It's important to keep a track of how much money is coming into your account - and how much is going out! See what other young people think.
How much money do you have in your current account at the beginning of every month?
At the beginning of every month I usually have twenty pounds in my account.
I might have ten pounds in there and that's about it because I spend it by the end.
Generally about three hundred pounds and then I save half of that for like university when I plan on going there or if I need it like if I'm going away on holiday, I'll take some out of that as well.
How do you record your monthly spending?
I don't really make it last very well, I'm normally out of money by the end of the month, but I think I really should write down what I'm spending on and try and budget a little bit more.
I usually don't record it, I just make sure - I don't take all my money out with me, I just only bring out the money I need, so it's a kind of budget thing, so I make sure I don't overspend.
Basically, when I don't have any money left, I know I just have to wait till next month.
I make sure my money lasts till the end of the month, I sort of keep a record of it, so I write it down, keep all my receipts.
I have a book and I write the date and a list about how much I've got and if I spend some, I list minus how much I spent.
I've started recording my monthly spendings to try and ensure that I spend wisely coming to an age where I'm going to need to save money for college, and I just keep receipts and make sure I keep to a limit.
What do you think of online banking and paper statements?
Yeah, I'm quite meticulous, I keep a record of most things to make sure it's definitely right, I'm not getting ripped off.
My statements normally get put into a drawer, I'll have a quick glance at them but then they'll probably go straight in the drawer.
I tend to look at my paper statements, I don't really compare them to receipts at all, but I tend to look at them and make sure all my money's going through correctly and I do actually use a paperless option now as well, which I can see them online then so that's helping the environment then as well.
How well do you manage your account?
I don't really manage my account very well, I barely have a look at how much money is in it, so I think it will probably be a good idea to start looking at it more regularly.
I'd say I manage my money relatively well, I check it about once every week, ensure that I've not spent over …
You know, I'm fairly good with spending money, so I just check it every now and again just to make sure that everything's okay really.
I think I manage my account well and I check it once every month.
I usually check it each month, but if I'm really worried I check it every week.
I do check it quite often like maybe every week, but sometimes I tend to forget and then I'm like, oh what's gone - where's that gone? So I do try to check as much as possible.
