You don’t need to be a finance expert

Teaching Financial Education can feel daunting, particularly if you’re not a ‘money person’. That’s why we’ve done that hard work for you.

Our free, interactive web-based resources require little preparation and are flexible.  Work your way through the modules systematically, or pick and choose the elements that meet your particular needs and those of your students.

Register on the MoneySense for Schools website

The main student-facing section of the site can be viewed without registering on the site. However by registering, teachers have access to extra features including:

Teachers’ notes

Once logged in, teachers have access to a range of extra information and guidance embedded on the site to help them deliver the best possible experience to their students. These include:

  • ideas for delivering both a long and a short lesson for each topic with differentiation suggestions
  • learning objectives for each activity
  • curriculum links.

Student tracking system

By registering, teachers can:

  • set up their own bespoke course of parts of the site they’d like their students to work through
  • assign those courses to their students
  • track their students’ progress through the course.

This allows immediate differentiation in a class, as different courses can be assigned to differently-abled students.

The system is ideal for sessions in a computer lab or for setting homework. Students can work in a secure, safe system and no personal student details are captured on the site.

Introductory videos

The MoneySense for Schools website also provides introductory videos that introduce the programme. You’ll find an overview of the programme as a whole as well individual videos introducing each of the four modules available on the site.

Teacher training events

MoneySense for Schools has also run a number of free teacher training events across the UK, designed to equip teachers with the skills and knowledge to deliver lessons in Financial Education . These have provided:

  • tips on how to include Financial Education into planning
  • insight into how MoneySense for Schools can be used in the classroom
  • workshops designed to allow teachers to share ideas, resources and approaches to Financial Education.
  • Register your interest in future teacher training events

Additional support from MoneySense Coaches

To help teachers to get the most from our MoneySense for Schools programme, we have a team of experienced MoneySense Coaches who can support you.

Working with a member of the MoneySense team can help target appropriate material to meet your students learning objectives, generate new ideas and help focus on the important issues.
